Irene is senior researcher at the Centre for Development and Environment (CDE) of the University of Bern. Before joining the CDE, she worked for more than ten years in the Trade Division of UNCTAD. Irene holds a PhD in Law from the World Trade Institute/University of Bern, an LLM from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Law degree from the University of Pavia. Her main research focus is on trade regulation and natural resource governance. She has published research on a wide range of trade policy issues in commodities.
